How We Began

How We Began

How We Began

Operation Blue Remembrance began as an idea.  In May, 2018, Don Armstrong and I organized the first reunion of the Baytown P.D. retirees and former officers.  We had an attendance of some 85 former and retired officers and their spouses.  We  realized others had been forgotten or we had lost track of them.  We decided that no officer should ever be forgotten and made it our quest to locate and honor all that had gone before.  From there, we expanded to all Texas officers with a primary focus on those who were killed in the line of duty, but taking care to remember those who passed away from other means.  Operation Blue Remembrance was born.  We were approved by the State and IRS (501 (c) 3 on June 2, 2020 and we have not looked back.

What We do

How We Began

How We Began

We are focused on assisting the law enforcement community in any way we can.  The most visible action is traveling Texas visiting each grave of fallen officers and those who passed away from other means.  This taken us to other states in addition to the Lone Star State.  To date, we have visited 1375 graves, marking each with a Texas stick flag.  An additional 275 have been identified as Burial Details Unknown about 67 have been cremated.  This is our way of saying "you are not forgotten." We offer headstones to officers who pass away and are truly in need.  We offer a number of other services in a variety of areas.

Where possible, our photos are original photos taken by Operation Blue Remembrance personnel.  On those occasions where we cannot access the gravesite, we rely on other photos taken by primarily Officer Down Memorial Page and Find A Grave.  When we cannot find a photo anywhere of either gravesite or officer, we insert our logo in their place.  Another reason for lack of a photo is that we just don't know where they are buried.  We don't give up the search, but chances of locating the actual grave are either slim or none.  Most officers, to date, are from Texas, however we are expanding our focus to other states such as Louisiana and Mississippi.  These photos are listed in their own section accessible on the top of the page under the "HOME" section.

Archer Funeral Home

I became acquainted with Ms. Vonda Archer when our organization was looking into providing a headstone for Sheriff A.L. Board of Baylor County.  She is an intelligent lady which a gift for helping people in various situations.  The atmosphere of this funeral home is one of love and respect and I recommend them for any future needs.

Texas Gravestone Care

We recently added Texas Gravestone Care of Porter, Texas as a vendor for our headstones.  We furnish monuments for those officers who were killed in the line of duty, but whose family could not afford one.  These people are professionals who I have found to be courteous and helpful beyond the call of duty.  Mrs. Miranda has been my contact and she is just a wonderful lady.  I recommend considering this company for you monument needs.
